Emma Watson

Emma has been around in the media loads recently what with the new Harry Potter film and those infamous Burberry ads and I have to say she's growing on me. It's not that I disliked her before just that I'm not a massive Harry Potter fan (unlike he other half of this blog :P) and that her style is not really mine. But she does dress well and I really like this outfit. She's really made this Christopher Cane dress work; I like the way she hasn't just copied the entire catwalk look but has kept the look clean and hasn't tried to make it too individual and overdone things. The dress remains the centre of the look which is important with such a statement item. The tassles on the clutch also add to the outfit. Understated and exciting. Perfect.

This outfit I'm not so keen on however. The dress suits Emma's style well - it's young but also simple and chic. It isn't something I would wear but I like it on her. But what I don't like in this outfit are the Brogues. I think that in general they have become a bit tired and overdone and I think they do not suit this look or Emma. They look akward on her, they're sort of too big and clumpy.

In the garden, tanning (burning), drinking coffee, reading Grazia ( don't normally but decided to give it a go...) and eating blueberries and caramel stroop waffels. Thanyou sunshine and thankyouuu budgens half price fruit!! This is the life!

If she doesn't scare you, no evil thing will.

Is it just us or has Alexander Mqueen been watching 101 Dalmations? His display of elegant pencil skirts, eccentric tailoring and his 101 variations on dogstooth would definateley not look out of place in the wardrobe of deliciuosly evil villain Cruella De Vil.

This is not a bad thing at all, in fact we have come to the conclusion that Cruella is probably the best dressed Disney villian, if not character, of all time. What do you think? Having said that I wouldn't mind owning Cinderella's ball gown and Princess Jasmines crop top is very this season!

But in terms of what I would most want to wear down the street I'm going to have to go with Cruella, besides, fur looks set to be big next season and she's got a lot of it! But despite our admiration of her wardrobe though, what we're hoping is not so big next season is Dogstooth and while it's unlikeley, Mqueen wasn't the only show to display it. Here it is at Preen and Moschino:

We love it in combination with Mqueens exciting structural tailoring but would honestly rather walk down the street with an umbrella on our heads (see below) than a Dogtooth coat on - in real life it ends up looking uninteresting. But who knows? By November we could be head to toe in the stuff!

oooh cut off tops! last week attacked a pyjama top with scissors and now its my favourite cut off shirt! and if your not handy with the scissors american apparel people!!! they look best with acid wash denim shorts ( well thats how i wear mine :P) or a contrast body con skirt (nude brights people!) dms finish the look ( yes last season but i love minee :D) but have fun this summer i will be stocking up on crop tops for reading!!xxxxxxx

ok so i'm the lazy one :P but i have to agree! ACID WASH DENIM IS MY NEW LOVERR. run to rokit people cut off levis for a tenner! and i was thinking of buying the £27 ones from american apparel! denim shirts are in abundance all over brick lane (again levis) althought i was lucky and got one off my gran from bhs! looll a tip, acid wash and nudes BEAUUTTIFFULLL combination i must sayy! but do not i repeat DO NOT go and purchase any usual denim skirts or playsuits because we will find you loollxxxxxxxxx

The fashion drought cure.

So like we said before we have GCSE exams coming up very soon which, obviously, is stressful in itself. But add to this situation Two fashion obbsesives, Who never have to wear school uniform again, 15 exams, and Shops everywhere completeley empty of anything we want to wear and it makes for added stress and little revision! And so weve decided to get ourselves down to the newly opened primark to pick up some cheap basics and then to the local habidashery and we're going to have to solve this seasins Fashion Drought ourselves! H&M have already hooked us up with a few items currently awaiting the Betwixtandbetween touch which we'll show you if they turn out successful! But I thought that I would give you a preview of my latest project while I avoid revision...


I was inspired by this skirt from Topshop and predictably Luella, and though it's probably a bit ambitious this is basically what i hope to do (what can i say? I'm desperate!!):
Through in some ribbon and some ruffles and Voila! (I'm not sure how comfortable this will be in an exam but when do i ever dress for comfort?!).With any luck I'll work work out how to re-create the whole collection before the summers over!

Though we doubt too many people will have noticed we have in fact been absent from blooging for a little while this is because GCSEs (which are in like, ahhh!, a month?!) have been taking up almost all of our time. (MY BLOODY TEXTILES PROJECT IS ENOUGH TO PUT ME OFF FASHION FOR LIFFFE). But, for anyone out there who might be concerned, we will be back after our exams when we will have ten blissfull weeks of nothingness (apart from august 27th-30th when well be at READING FESTIVALLL ... sorry we had to share that were VERY excited) when we can post to our hearts content. And before that weve got the rest of the easter holidays to find time between revision to post so i guess we might be back briefly. Anyway we just thought we should let people know we wer'nt gone forever before we were completely forgotten!

Chanel

A collection that was distinctively Chanel. Tweed jackets & monochrome colour schemes looked grown-up but look closer and there was a playful, mischevious and sometimes seductive edge.... Although not all of it was particularly inspiring, overall we really liked the collection - and the more interesting looks will definately be influencing our wardrobe come september...

Marc Jacobs

Last A/W it was nothing but black, this season its anything but black and next season it seems as if it could be a happy mixture of the two, or atleast it will if Marc Jacobs has anything to do with it...

Moschino cheap and chic.

We loved the mickey-mouse -ear-bows and the red. Were gonna have to find a way to make ourselves some of these!...

Lanvin

The tough edged "inner rock goddess" inspired, structural dresses at Lanvin made Black exciting again. And more fur...

Dries van noten

We lovved this collection, a toned downed verson of Summers colour blocking. The vibrant colours clashed but their rich hues meant they worked together better than pefectly. We really love that peach satin maxi dress and the blazer worn with the bright red lipstick. It's such a simple but edgy look.

we liked the trouser suits, ruffled shirtsreminiscent of the 70's. We also liked the fur jacket similar to the one spotted at luella....can we see a trend coming?
